Talk:Nomic:Game 2005-04-02:Proposal 317
From Carls wiki
Suggestion: change I propose that the first person to The first player. — Carl 12:41, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
I know the answer to this riddle, and so does anyone who has read The Hobbit, I think. So, would it be ok to guess correctly now and collect the 20 points if/when the rule is accepted? :) — Carl 12:49, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- Johan: And a google search for "32 white horses on a red hill" gives a few hints too ;) (16:17, 27 Feb 2006 (CET))
How is correctly defined here? I'm afraid it will lead to a difficult judgement if two players come up with two separate but valid solutions to the riddle. — Carl 12:49, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- I think it would be the first correct answer — Matt 1:29, 25 Feb 2006
- Yes, we agree on that point. What I meant was that the proposal is not very clear on what would be a "correct answer". What authority gets to decide whether an answer is correct or not? — Carl 16:27, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- I also suppose that I'd have to be the authority, and everyone else would have to trust me. If that doesn't work, I suppose you could appeal to my friend Anna who told me the riddle.--Matt 18:28, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
I still think that the words I propose that should be removed from the text. Also, the proposal needs a level four heading so as not to be in violation of r303. — Carl 16:39, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- I'm not exactly sure how to manage a level four heading. All I could do is level 2.--Matt 18:24, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- We usually surround the heading with h4 tags, <h4>like this</h4>. I took the liberty of making this change for you. A similar heading could also be produced by surrounding the heading with four equals signs ("=") on both sides — the only difference is that in the latter case, the heading will be included in the table of contents (if any), while in the former it won't. — Carl 19:06, 25 Feb 2006 (CET)
- Thanks for all your help Carl--Matt 00:42, 26 Feb 2006 (CET)
Jonas: I also know the answer to this one and I'm pretty sure the one I know is the first one since my answer is in a now extinct language. — Jonas 18:08, 27 Feb 2006 (CET)
- The proposal only mentions the first player. There's nothing in there about the age of the answer itself. Nice try though. — Carl 22:57, 27 Feb 2006 (CET)
- Jonas: Darn! Then I will answer the question now: - .... . -.-- .- .-. . - . . - .... --- -. - .... . --. ..- -- ... .-.-.-
- Of course I use morse code. I didn't see anything about that being prohibited. — Jonas 19:06, 1 Mar 2006 (CET)
- Let's pretend, for the sake of argument, that your morse code answer is correct (I haven't checked) and that you are the first player to provide this answer. Why would any of the rest of us vote yes to the proposal? The way I see it, either your answer is not valid (for some reason), or you have just removed every incentive for the other players to vote in favour. — Carl 22:40, 1 Mar 2006 (CET)
- Jonas: My point exactly. Trying to apply timing in a system where none is defined is just silly. Even if it WAS defined, the risk of someone else beating you to the answer would be to great to afford. I surely hope that this is the last we see of such speed dependant baloney in this game. — Jonas 18:37, 2 Mar 2006 (CET)
- Johan: A speed dependant sausage? Where did you get that from? (21:00, 2 Mar 2006 (CET))
- For your informatoin according to http://morsecode.scphillips.com/cgi-bin/morse.cgi:
- - .... . -.-- .- .-. . - . . - .... --- -. - .... . --. ..- -- ... .-.-.-
translated is:
"THEYARETEETHONTHEGUMS."
- - .... . -.-- .- .-. . - . . - .... --- -. - .... . --. ..- -- ... .-.-.-

Are we ready to vote on my silly proposal?--Matt 11:00, 10 Mar 2006 (CET)
- Johan: Yes! Update the scores/voting table! Wheeeee voting! (16:20, 10 Mar 2006 (CET))
