All rise.

The issue of today is to clarify if the newly adopted rule 318 - Real Men conflicts with rule 105, namely the part every player is an eligible voter.

The prosecutor (Jonathan) is referring to the following set of rules as being violated in one way or another by the defendant (rule 318 - Real Men):

104
All rule-changes proposed in the proper way shall be voted on. They will be adopted if and only if they receive the required number of votes.
105
Every player is an eligible voter. Every eligible voter must participate in every vote on rule-changes.
109
Rule-changes that transmute immutable rules into mutable rules may be adopted if and only if the vote is unanimous among the eligible voters. Transmutation shall not be implied, but must be stated explicitly in a proposal to take effect.
110
In a conflict between a mutable and an immutable rule, the immutable rule takes precedence and the mutable rule shall be entirely void. For the purposes of this rule a proposal to transmute an immutable rule does not "conflict" with that immutable rule.

I will try to cover the rules in order.

  • 104: This is what rule 318 - Real Men alters implicitly, the number of votes. Since there are no explicit conflict I say "not guilty".
  • 105: This might be jeopardising the entire game, I will take this into consideration when judging, though the eligibility of a player is not affected explicitly.
  • 109: Unanimousity is not affected by the number of votes, "not guilty".
  • 110: Of no relevance at all, the court is aware of the implications on the sentence without being reminded.

Sentence: Rule 318 - Real Men does not affect the eligibility of a player, and all players must still vote on each proposition. The unaminousity is also not affected since the will of the players is not altered and the number of votes have no impact on the unaminousity. The only thing that rule 318 - Real Men changes, is the number of votes when calculating if a rule proposition has achieved the needed number of votes to be accepted, thus counting non-bearded player's votes zero times. Also, the wording "The first two paragraphs of this rule does not apply to human females." shall be altered to "The first two paragraphs of this rule do not apply to human females." or the sentence will be much harsher.

Court dismissed.
